Why is it I avoid blogging about this stuff?

So it's been almost 6 weeks since I've blogged. Part of that can be reasonably be put down to general business - we've had two sets of houseguests, along with all the fun that goes into that, and summertime stuff has taken over. Which is nice.

What isn't nice is that I'm still hovering around 230. Sigh.

I heard something interesting on NPR yesterday. It was an interview with Michael Pollan, who wrote In Defense of Food, which is now on my amazon wishlist, but he said that it all boils down to just seven words...

Eat Food.
Not too much.
Mostly Plants.

His whole thing is that most of what's in our supermarkets is not actually food. It's chemically processed calories that don't actually fulfill you or give you much in the way of nutrition. It's got me noticing the amount of stuff I eat that's not actually food. I'm definitely getting better, but today, for example, I ate a hot dog. On a heavily processed white roll. I'm trying to do better with eating actual food.

So here are my measurement stats for now...(compared to late Februay)

Weight: then:239 now:230
Upper arms: 14 3/4 inches. now: 14.5 inches
Bust: 40 inches: now: 38.5 inches
Waist: 44.5 inches... now: 42 inches.
Hips: 50 1/2 inches...now: 48 3/4 inches
Upper thigh: 31 inches - now: 28.5 inches

So I guess it's not all just about the number on the scale... looks like I've lost about 8.5 inches overall. That gives me some inspiration to keep working out...

Thanks for listening. I'm a little discouraged right now, but feel better after these measurements.
